Givenchy
De moeder van Hubert de Givenchy was verslaafd aan modemagazines. Hierdoor werd Hubert geïnspireerd. Op 17 jarige leeftijd vertrok hij naar Parijs om te gaan werken voor bekende couturiers. In 1952 opende hij zijn eerste modehuis. Givenchy legde in deze jaren grondslagen voor de stijl die nu bekend staat als casual chic. Givenchy’s stijl is luxueus, met veel aandacht voor de lijnen. Hij gebruikt zelden prints maar vooral grote effen vlakken in kleuren zoals rood, blauw en zwart. Givenchy is een erkend haute couture-merk en is dat tot op de dag van vandaag nog erg uniek.

Leuk weetje: Hubert de Givenchy ontmoette Audrey Hepburn in 1953 bij de opnames van Sabrina — het begin van een samenwerking die 40 jaar duurde.
